Clinical Skills Online
The aim of this project is to make video recordings of a range of clinical skills that medical students have to learn during their clinical course. Students are taught various skills, including venepuncture, how to take blood pressure and how to check a blood transfusion in the Clinical Skills Lab at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Initially, the videos will provide a reference aid for students. A viewer based on SMIL [Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language, based on Extensible Markup Language] has been developed and tested. Twelve skills are being recorded in the first phase of this project. Use of this resource will then be monitored and further skills may be recorded as required.
Clinical students can now access the skills videos, via ERWeb [the personalised web-based teaching and learning environment developed for students on the Cambridge Clinical Course].
